Description |
General Help Personnel provide assistance in The ReStore with preparing merchandise for sale (cleaning and simple repairs), creating floor displays, customer service, housekeeping duties, loading and unloading donations, and preparing some items for scrap recycling or disposal. Requirements: A Vulnerable Sector police check (PVSC). (Letter for PVSC provided by affiliate upon request) *youth in high school are exempt* CSA approved steel toe footwear and long pants must be worn. Steel toed footwear available for use at The ReStore. Duties and Responsibilities: Customer assistance General housekeeping tasks (sweeping, mopping, etc.) Loading and unloading merchandise from customer vehicles and ReStore delivery truck Clean and repair donations Assemble merchandise Price merchandise as directed Create floor displays Move merchandise onto sales floor Skills and Abilities: Previous experience working in a retail environment is an asset but not required Previous carpentry experience is an asset but not required Ability to work with a team or independently Ability to lift and unload items up to 100lbs (with assistance) Friendly and helpful |
Training Details |
There are 4 steps. Watch a safety video, take a 12 question safety quiz, create an online profile in our volunteer database (where you can sign up for ReStore shifts) and obtain a police check. A full orientation will be provided on your first shift. |
Working Conditions | General Help Personnel will mostly work indoors but will be exposed to the outdoors when loading/unloading vehicles or working in the recycling/waste area. Lifting items up to 100lbs (additional staff and assistive devices available) Ability to stand for long periods of time. Break and lunch times provided when work periods exceed 5hrs. |
