Impact Statement | Hospice Prince Edward acknowledges and celebrates its' volunteers as the heart of our organization. More that 50 volunteers provide support in the community in home, hospital and the hospice residence to palliative clients. Other volunteers provide support to family members who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This grief and bereavement support is facilitated on a one on one basis or in a group setting. There are other opportunities for volunteering in other roles such as office administration, fundraising, housekeeping. |
Description | Hospice volunteers provide support to individuals living with a life limiting illness or facing end of life and their families either in their homes or in our three bed residence. Hospice Prince Edward offers a 30 hour training program to interested individuals. |
Training Details | Volunteers are screened and linked up to the 30 training program as set out by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. There is no charge for screened applicants. |
Working Conditions |
Visiting volunteers provide their service within patients' homes or Long Term Care Facilities. Residential volunteers work alongside the team of professionals in the residential setting. |
