| Description | To establish contact with patients and families arriving at the Emergency Department, ambulatory entrance, and direct or assist them as appropriate. To offer reassurance and comfort to patients and accompanying persons as appropriate. To assist staff as requested and appropriate. To contribute to the care of patients by attending to their non-medical needs, maintaining communication with families, and helping staff as appropriate. Volunteers must have compassion, patience, calm demeanor, a background in working with individuals in a support capacity, and the ability to work independently at times. |
