Description | Scouts Canada Area Commissioner Vacancy-Algonquinte Area Scouts Canada is looking for a person interested in managing Scouting for the Algonquinte Area which is within the White Pine Council. Algonquinte covers the geography that goes from Napanee in the east along the lake to Colborne and north to Whitney. You will be supported by a Council Field Executive (employee of Scouts Canada) and an Area Youth Commissioner. Together you make up the senior Leadership Team for the Algonquinte Area which currently has a membership of 15 groups and 487 total members. The person we seek will be energetic, highly motivated, and committed to expanding Scouting to every community within the area. You will need excellent management skills and be a good manager of your time. This volunteer position will require approximately 15 hours per week and will require evening and weekend meetings throughout the year. The successful applicant will also become one of 7 area Commissioners who make up the White Pine Council Management Leadership Team providing support, input and planning towards the growth and expansion of scouting in Eastern Ontario using the Action Plan for Canadian Scouting. The Administrative Centre is located in Ottawa and provides a full complement of staff to support and administer you in your role.
