Description |
Three Oaks has opened a thrift store and is looking for volunteers to assist with store operations. Responsibilities: 1. Open and close store in teams of two. 2. Provide customer service, operate the cash register/debit machine and make entries in a communication log. 3. Sort/organize clothes, rotate seasonal items from storage to store front and create displays. Qualifications: 1. Transportation to the store for shifts needs to be arranged by the volunteer. 2. A Criminal Background check (CPIC) is required, however the vulnerable sector is not necessary and any cost incurred will be reimbursed to the volunteer. 3. Students under the age of 18 are welcome to apply and will be on shift with a volunteer over the age of 18. (the agency will sign off on required Community Hours for students) |
Training Details |
1. All volunteers will be trained by a Three Oaks staff on the philosophy, mandate and services of the agency. It is expected that all volunteers will work from the same feminist perspective as our staff and refer customers to the crisis line for support if needed. 2. Volunteers will also be trained on the basic store operations, cash register and debit machine. 3. Volunteers must complete training on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, which can be done online. Paper copies will also be kept at the store for those who do not have access to computers/internet. |
