Position Indigenous Victim Services Responder - Indigenous Victim Services
Impact Statement Volunteers will provide one-on-one confidential assistance and care to individuals who have been impacted by crime, crisis, or sudden tragedies living on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory or First Nations individuals living in the surrounding geographic area.
Description The Indigenous Victim Services Response Team is activated when a person has been affected by a crime, crisis, or sudden tragedy and desires immediate support. An Indigenous Victim Services Responder is tasked with attending to the needs of a victim with a rapid, holistic, and practical approach at the scene of the event. Indigenous Victim Services Responders will provide emotional, spiritual, mental and physical support to the affected by gathering natural support systems, identifying options/choices, and validating feelings while actively listening to concerns.
Training Details Training and orientation provided by Indigenous Victim Services and Community Wellbeing of Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte programs. All training is free. Some trainings will include certifications for in-demand courses.
Working Conditions Conditions may vary, less than ideal conditions which may include inclement weather, allergens, pets/animals, etc, are possible. Volunteers must be able to work flexible hours which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Timing Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening, Anytime
Time Detail Volunteers are required to submit a minimum 12-hour on-call shift per month. Shifts are scheduled at volunteer's discretion.
