Impact Statement Without volunteers the Stirling Musical Instrument Lending Library (M.I.L.L.) would not exist.
Volunteers have designed and implemented the program.
Volunteers have donated the instruments, repaired, cleaned and cataloged the instruments in preparation for being loaned.
We have a volunteer coordinator and board and volunteers staff the M.I.L.L.
Many musicians have volunteered their time in support of the M.I.L.L. testing the instruments and playing at promotional events.
Come join our team of dedicated volunteers committed to the continued growth and development of the Stirling Musical Instrument Lending Library (MILL) by bringing instruments to local libraries in our service area and music into more people's lives.
Description Wanted: Seniors (55 years+) to teach students how to play instruments - and students to teach Seniors to use their computers - particularly tablets.
We need people with musical talents to tutor students and others in learning to play an instrument.
We also need people with computer technical skills who would like to help Seniors learn to use their computers or to further their computer skills.
Training Details Training in using Zoom sessions; set up and operation of tablets.
Instruments available for students (and teachers) to borrow for $30/year.
Senior Musicians can be instructed in using Zoom for musical sessions with tutors. If needed Seniors (55+) can can become a patron of the MILL for $30/yr. and borrow a tablet for musical use. Training for the use of tablets is also available.
Working Conditions One on one tutoring on Zoom or in a Covid safe environment eg. outdoors or distanced - according to current Covid protocols approximately 2 hours/week or as agreed upon with student.
Helping Seniors understand how to use their computers to stream music, participate in a Zoom session, and other applications of interest.
Working from home, on Zoom or in a Covid Safe environment.
No car required. Working from home therefore accessible - MILL also accessible anbd will ensure accessibility of any other environment used.
