Impact Statement Volunteer-driven from 'Day 1', the Stirling MILL is deeply rooted in community. Our volunteers give us a fantastic gift: their time & creativity. Whether it is through their musical, technical, or project management expertise, the Stirling MILL cannot operate & develop without our dedicated volunteers.
• Volunteers designed & implemented the program.
• Volunteers donated the instruments, repaired, cleaned & catalogued them.
• Volunteers deliver them from one Library to another, so you can pick up your instrument loan from your local Public Library.
There are many ways to get involved at the MILL, even if you can’t play an instrument. We welcome your commitment in whatever way you are able. Possibilities range from working with instruments through office tasks, publicity/promotion & other ‘behind the scenes’ input.
(Proximity to Stirling may be essential for some roles, but not all. If you have skill & experience you would like to offer, please get in touch.)
Description The Stirling Musical Instrument Lending Library (Stirling MILL) is recruiting for a volunteer Treasurer to serve as an Officer of the corporation.

The Treasurer works collaboratively with the president and senior management, if any, to support the Board in achieving its fiduciary responsibilities. These responsibilities include:
• Custody of the funds and securities of the Corporation,
• Keep full and accurate accounts of all assets, liabilities, receipts and disbursements of the Corporation in the books belonging to the Corporation,
• Deposit all monies, securities and other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Corporation in such chartered bank or trust company, or, in the case of securities, in such registered dealer in securities as may be designated by the Board from time to time,
• Disburse the funds of the Corporation as may be directed by proper authority taking proper vouchers for such disbursements,
• Prepare monthly financial statements to be presented at the board meetings,
• Prepare and present to the Members at the annual meeting as part of the annual report, the financial statement of the Corporation approved by the Board together with the report of the independent third party examiner as the case may be,
• Prepare all required tax filings including: HST return, source deduction/T4 and charity return, and
• Other duties as may from time to time be directed by the Board. Time requirement for the position includes:
• 10 – 15 hours per month for performing the responsibilities detailed above
• 1 – 2 hours per month for attending board meetings
Training Details Current Treasurer anticipates retirement in autumn 2024 and wishes significant overlap in transition. Fiscal Year End: August 31st.
Working Conditions Work from home/online. Some meetings via remote platform (Zoom, Google Meets, etc.), a few require personal attendance.
